African-origin traditions, art and culture will be promoted
Montreal, August 10 (News Desk): The Government of Canada has announced a financial support of $10,000 for the Afromonde Festival to be held in Montreal. The funds will be provided under the Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This announcement was made by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and the Minister of Official Languages and the Member of Parliament for the parliamentary constituency of Therese-de-Blanville. Madeline Sunette made the announcement on behalf of Mark Miller, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister of Official Languages. The main objective of the Afromonde Festival is to highlight the richness of the cultural heritage of communities of African origin and to connect people more deeply with this heritage. The festival showcases cultural diversity through various fields including music, dance, traditional cuisine, entrepreneurship and visual arts is done. This event is emerging as one of Montreal’s premier summer cultural events. It features African-American entrepreneurs, thinkers, creators, and Artists come together. The fair provides them with a platform to showcase their talent, share their ideas, and tell their stories to different communities. Minister Mark Miller said a strong and inclusive Canada is one where everyone can find their voice in the country’s stories, arts and shared cultural spaces. He said that by supporting the Afromonde Festival, the government is celebrating the talent and creativity of communities of African descent and their diaspora. According to the government, such cultural events provide opportunities for artists to share their stories, connect with audiences, and strengthen their voices. At the same time, they also boost the local economy.
