Party alleges international network behind demonstrations in France and India; claims Congress, under Rahul Gandhi, is aiding an ‘anarchy and regime change’ agenda.

NEW DELHI

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Congress, claiming that a recent Fox News Digital investigation has uncovered “a connection” between the riots in France and the anti-CEC protests in India. The party alleged that the report exposes an international network working to create unrest and facilitate regime change, and accused the Congress of being complicit in the effort.

According to the Fox News report, 101 organisations across 13 countries are said to be coordinating, organising or amplifying protests, linking the unrest in France with youth-led demonstrations in India and other nations.

BJP leaders said the findings validate their long-standing charge that the Congress is part of a broader “anarchy and regime change plot” and went on to call Rahul Gandhi a “traitor” and “gaddar” (betrayer of the nation).

BJP Leaders Raise Alarm

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said the report clearly shows how certain organisations are working across borders to destabilise elected governments.

“Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is presenting a model of anarchy and ‘gaddari’ before the country. Today, a report has appeared, detailing how these alleged links of betrayal are connected to foreign agencies. It would not be wrong to ask, ‘Who is the leader of these traitors?’” Bhatia said.

He further claimed that the report reveals a “red-green ecosystem of protest”, where red represents communist groups and green represents Islamic groups.

“Global chaos grows to 101 groups. These organisations are operating across nine countries,” he added.

BJP Points to Meetings, Calls for Congress Response

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari, citing the investigation, said that the report titled ‘Global Chaos Inc Grows to 101 Groups’ flags how the Progressive International (PI), a communist organisation, was coordinating common messaging between protests in France, Albania and India.

Bhandari alleged that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi met representatives of Progressive International at 10 Janpath on April 10, 2025.

“This further proves that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress are in the remote control of foreign anti-democratic forces,” he said, demanding a response from the party.

He also asked whether the Congress had coordinated with the international group during the protests and urged the party to clarify its position.

Congress Yet to Respond

The Congress has not issued any official statement on the BJP’s allegations so far. The party’s silence comes amid growing political heat over the issue, with the BJP accusing the Congress of being part of a broader foreign-backed network working against India’s stability and democratic institutions.

The controversy is likely to intensify the political debate in the coming days, with the BJP demanding a thorough investigation and clarity from the Congress leadership.

What the Fox News Report Claims

  • Identified 101 organisations across 13 countries, allegedly coordinating, organising or amplifying protests.
  • Links the unrest in France with youth-led demonstrations in India and other countries.
  • Suggests a “red-green ecosystem of protest” — red for communist groups, green for Islamic groups.
  • Claims these networks aim to acquire political power and bring about regime change.

“The report clearly shows how these alleged links of betrayal are connected to foreign agencies. It would not be wrong to ask, ‘Who is the leader of these traitors?’”

Political Implications

Analysts say the BJP’s attack is aimed at cornering the Congress on national security and sovereignty, particularly in the run-up to the next electoral battles. By linking the protests in India to international networks, the ruling party is seeking to project the Congress as “anti-national” and irresponsible, while reinforcing its narrative of a strong and stable government.

The opposition, on the other hand, is expected to defend its stance, arguing that the BJP is politicising protests and using foreign reports for electoral gain.

Experts Urge Caution Over International Links Allegations

Political analysts maintain that while global networks do exist and often support protest movements, linking domestic protests directly to foreign conspiracies requires substantial evidence.

“Such claims need to be backed by credible proof, not just reports or allegations,” said a former diplomat.

Fox News Investigation Sparks Global Debate

The Fox News Digital report has already triggered a debate internationally, with experts questioning the extent of coordination among the 101 organisations. The network’s findings have also drawn criticism from some groups, who say such reports risk oversimplifying complex social and political movements.

Protests Around the World Under Watch

The report comes at a time when several countries, including France, have witnessed prolonged protests against government policies. Observers say the alleged links, if proven, could have serious implications for international security and the future of democratic movements worldwide.
