Indiaās Defence Minister Rajnath Singh gave a strong warning to Pakistan on Tuesday. He spoke at an election rally in Barrackpore, West Bengal. This came after Pakistanās Defence Minister Khawaja Asif threatened to strike Kolkata if India does any āfuture misdemeanours.ā
Singh said Pakistanās minister should not make such provocative statements. He reminded everyone of the 1971 war, 55 years ago. āThey suffered the consequences when Pakistan was divided into two parts,ā Singh said. That war led to the birth of Bangladesh from East Pakistan.
The minister went further. āIf they cast an eye on Bengal, only God knows how many parts Pakistan will be divided into this time,ā he added. His words show Indiaās firm stand to protect West Bengal. The crowd cheered as he spoke.
Singh also mentioned Operation Sindoor. India carried out air strikes in May 2025 after the Pahalgam terror attack. These hit terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This proves Indiaās readiness to respond to threats.
Pakistanās Khawaja Asif made his threat on Saturday. He warned of attacking Kolkata over any āfalse flag operationsā by India. Tensions between the two neighbours are high again. Both are nuclear powers, so the world watches closely.
People in West Bengal support Singhās tough talk. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had raised concerns about the threat. India wants peace but will defend its land strongly.
